Further information regarding Drivers CPC Training:
- Existing drivers of any Goods Vehicle over 3.5 tonnes, who are driving professionally, must complete 35 hours CPC training by 10/9/2014.
- Those same drivers will need to complete a further 35 hours training every five years.
- Training may only be given by JAUPT approved Instructors at a JAUPT approved Centre.
- Holders of the “Transport Manager’s CPC” will still need to complete at least 35 hrs CPC training in order to maintain their HGV entitlement.
- The minimum length of a course is 7 hours. Where a course is split into two parts the second part must start within 24 hours of the completion of the first part e.g. Friday afternoon 3½ hours and Saturday Morning 3½ hours.
- There will be no test as part of the course and there is no pass or fail. Drivers must simply attend the course
- On completion of 35 hours training you will be issued with a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) which you must then carry with you whenever you are driving professionally.
- It is solely the driver’s responsibility to make sure they fulfil the CPC requirements.
- If a driver has not completed 35 hours training by 10th September 2014, S/He will not be allowed to drive professionally.
- You do not need any other card to prove that you are exempt from the CPC before 2014. Your normal HGV Driving Licence is the only proof you need. There is a scam currently operating where you can buy a DQEC, or Drivers Qualification Exemption Card, for £49.00 or so on the internet or from magazine adverts. Do Not Waste Your Money.
- Drivers who passed their tests since the start of the scheme, in September 2009, will have already acquired their DQC by completing the Initial Qualification. They have five years from the date of their test pass to complete the 35 hours Periodic Training.
- The top and tail of it all is that every driver will have to do this training, 35 hours or 5 days training by Sept 2014 and then the same every five years for as long as they want to drive professionally.
- Remember: from Sept 2014, No DQC = No Job.
